HALLOWED BE THY NAME

"Our Father, which art in heaven, hallowed be thy name."

Hallowing (praising, or holding sacred) His name is more than just going through the motions in a worship service. Praise is essential in a relationship with Him. I need not wait to praise Him until He answers my prayers. I have received (His grace) already. He has created me and made me a vessel He considers worthy of use. He has promised to give me His kingdom based only on the condition that I believe in Him.

When I deny my worth through Jesus, my Maker and my Saviour--when I say (or think) that I am worthless or have no place to belong--I do not hallow His name. The sacrifice of His blood has made me worthy. My home is in His kingdom, and He is my Father!

When I don't listen to Him and follow His commands, I do not hallow His name. He knows what the consequences of my actions will be, and He would not lead me into something that would not be good for me. He knows how to work out the details when His plans seem impossible. He is Wonderful Counselor!

When I don't bring my questions and problems to Him, I do not hallow His name. He knows my need for answers, for understanding, for comfort, for assurance, and for provisions for my physical life. When I refuse to pray, I'm telling God I don't believe in His power and ability to work in my life. When I pray, I relinquish my control and allow Him to work His miracle in all of me, to bless me beyond what I can imagine. He is my Provider!

When I hold bitter unforgiveness in my heart and do not allow Him to love others through me, I do not hallow His name. I'm telling Him I don't want His forgiveness in my life. I'm telling Him that I think my standards are more fair than His. But my standards will not improve life for me or for anyone else. He is the Prince of peace!

When I don't accept His victory over temptation and evil, I do not hallow His name. He has given me an armor and precise instructions in its use. When I follow Him, leaving my will and strategies behind, I will be victorious in spiritual warfare. He is the Almighty God, First and the Last!
