Sarah's areas of specialization include biblical content, Christian leadership, Christian life and faith formation, patient education,disabilities and chronic illness, child development, effective communication, pet care, adaptive technology, and inspirational stories. She is able to write for lay readers and technical audiences alike. She is also available to provide proofreading of papers, theses, and manuscripts in APA and Turabian format.
Between 1998 and 2005, Sarah served as editor of several publications and columns for the American Council of the Blind. These include The Student Advocate and The Blind Teacher, both quarterly publications, and "Here and There," a monthly column in the organization's national publication providing announcements about products and services of interest to people who are blind. During this time, she also wrote numerous articles for disability and health-related web sites, many of which also appeared in print media. While providing technical writing services for Freedom Scientific, Inc., a manufacturer of hardware and software for people who are blind, Sarah was a contributing writer for "The HTML Challenge," a set of web pages designed to demonstrate the use of the JAWS screen reader with Internet Explorer 5 and 6.
In August, 2009, Sarah graduated with a Master of Divinity Degree from Anderson University School of Theology in Anderson, Indiana. During the summer of 2009, she was the recipient of the Donald Addison Courtney writing fellowship. During her work as a teaching assistant in a graduate level course in pastoral care, she provided assistance to students with mastering Turabian format and learning the nuances of graduate-level writing.
